these past 2 days had been full of ups and downs. This mix of emotions came so suddenly that i really dont know what to do. all i can do is to just cry out to the Lord to make things right again. I guess for too long, things have been gng so smoothly for me, that i could not handle everything that happened for these last few days. decided to blog about these as a way of "letting things out" which always serves to make me feel better : )
let's just start with the joyful ones : ) thank God for bringing gwyneth, eugene, nelson and uncle kok hwa safely back frm chiangmai! i dont know why, but i was really looking fwd to gwyn's return. In order to have enough rest each night, i had stopped gng online frequently, gwyn and i could only communicate thru a few emails. I really missed her, esp since i started work. Missed having her around in church. so even though she might not want to come home, i'm really glad she's finally home : ) i have 1 more companion for lunch now : ) anor thing to be joyful is that i had lunch w pw today. though it was just the 2 of us, but i thank God for the time well-spent : ) let's have more lunches tgt!
just realised that the bible study class that i've been attending on mon nights and the sunday sch lesson that i taught on sun were talking about the same thing - smthg that is becoming socially acceptable today. What really shocked me and woke me up was smthg that a sec sch teacher shared during the sunday sch meeting on sunday. She shared that her 13-yr olds are doing and saying things that, in the past, only 15- or 16-yr olds would say. And this is due to the influence they get frm movies and tv shows. The entertainment scene is getting more liberal day by day and it has started to affect youths as young as 13 years. What she shared gave me a reality check and I felt worried for the sec 1 and 2 girls that i'm teaching in church. Becoming exposed to certain issues at an increasingly younger age, whatever these girls are gng thru and facing now are much more dangerous than what i was gng thru during my sec sch days. And it made me wonder all the more bout the kind of environment my children (God willing) will grow up in. All these, plus precept class only served to remind me of the importance of being firmly rooted in God's Word. Only by laying a firm foundation can I teach others to do the same and to defend ourselves against the temptations of this world. The meeting on Sunday also urged me to put in more effort to develop the individual r/s with my students in order to guide them better.
as i'm typing this now, my heart is really aching. Today, someone, DR, whom i knew for the longest time "shocked" me with a piece of news. I really didnt expect it frm DR at all and honestly, i started crying right in front of the computer at work. But i trust tt the decision DR made is out of obedience to God and not because of any other reason. I can only pray that God will preserve this friendship btw us. And this incident, like any other that has happened b4, really made me wonder how one can "uproot" himself frm a familiar place, leave everything behind - the r/s built, friendships made, and start anew somewhere else. and like what pastor always shares, another talent is gone. I prayed today that God will preserve the church which i've called my 2nd home, a place where i really find joy to be in, serving and worshipping God tgt, a place where i can have a sense of belonging.
and as i'm feeling this way, these few verses just came to me. A good reminder that although things do not always turn out the way we expect, and that very often, we are unable to understand why certain things happen the way they do, we can always rely on our promise-keeping God that His plans are the best for me : )
For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.
So shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
