well, for the 2nd sunday, i'm home at this time! kind of enjoy this cos i can have my afternoon nap which i had been deprived off during the wk..but just 2 more sundays to go b4 dear's back to my side..
today's been a happy day for me!! cos john john remembers me..yep, he's the son of our missionaries and they'll be back till end april..i enjoyed the hug tat john gave when he saw me! haa..really made my day : )
alright..today's sermon was a lil different..we had donkey lessons! we were told to be more like the donkeys..not physically or wat have you but it's the way the donkey acted when Jesus was gonna go into Jerusalem..during the period when Jesus came to earth as man, He was to enter Jerusalem on a donkey..and the pastor taught us 3 lessons..
lesson #1: we're to surrender our stubborn will to God and to obey His word..
donkeys are known to be one of the most stubborn creatures on earth..and they dun really enjoy having strangers riding their backs..the rider will end up being bruised everywhere..but this donkey which Jesus rode on did not throw any tantrum..it did not mind being ride on by a stranger..
lesson #2: we're to be beware of being self-righteous and not have a holier-than-thou-art attitude..
the Pharisees of the roman empire were not humble..and they refused to believe that Jesus was indeed the Son of God..they had their own mindset, their own rules which were not exactly the rules of God..what i've learnt here is tat it is not good to have so many rules..we might overlook the rules that we really ought to obey!!
what hit me was..we humans, who are made by God to rule over creatures like donkeys..who're given a soul unlike the animals..are actually less obedient compared to..the donkey..i felt ashamed..as many times, i had been stubborn..i had my own set of thinking and did things my way instead of letting God decide my life..i was thinking, maybe if God had made us like the animals..He might not be upset so much..
